BUZZARD IN THE RAIN

The original idea for this painting came from a very wet, bedraggled buzzard seen hunched in torrential rain in the Abernethy Forest, Scotland. However, he was sat in a miserable looking pine sapling and it wasn't until a couple of years later when in Mid-Wales that I came across this marvelous curving oak branch which I thought would make a perfect setting for my buzzard. I have simplified the background from a dark tangle of woodland to strengthen the impact of the curving branch and give the painting something of an oriental feel.
